Epistemological Position
I wasn’t tending to finish this passage in order to answer the question. Therefore, I didn’t obey the rule of questions. However, it had galvanized me to write down how I feel about the fallibilism and relativism. Actually, after writing this passage, I went to watch a few videos about fallibilism and I was touched because I think I was born to find the reality and the truth, so do other mankind.
I tend to gravitate towards to become a fallibilist and this is my example. example
(I didn’t spend any of a minute on thinking about the examples. If I have insights later, I may add them up.)
In order to illustrate the idea further, I would like to give no examples but my specific thoughts. A fallibilist is not a fence sitter (here, this phrase is derogatory). A fallibilist is the person who understand that there is an error when the objectively error occurs, but they would accept this and like to improve, sometimes utterly change, the idea (The goal, which does not change, would be perfect the notion.) when other people elaborate their points to a fallibilist rationally, convincingly and accurately.
Compared with a relativist who would think that the error is due to different aspects of views when the problems happen, a fallibilist would accept that WE COULD BE WRONG. This would make fallibilists to consider the accuracy of their notions and to immediately polish the ideas.
A even more deeper idea about the attitude of fallibilists is that there is no ultimate and perfect theories and notions existing in the world, they believed. That is why they don’t believe in human has already control the correct knowledge. There are too many explicit, or implicit, errors (usually extremely ridiculous) in human’s thoughts. Even then, they would chase the truth of this world. If there is an option that is to become a kind of people who resolutely defend the truth and the morality (This truth is already been proved, let’s assume that there is a truth existing in the world.), I would definitely choose that, as well as being a fallibilist.
In my future life, I would like to do my best to find every real concepts. I believe in that knowledge exist and the truth exists! Being a fallibilist would help me to become ignorant, to receive changes, to accept skeptics. The idea of being a fallibilst is similar to gather ideas and to stay hungry for improved knowledge. The truth is there in a place and it’s waiting for human to unearth it. Human is doing the work of clearing away the mists and clouds on the path of searching the truth (in every aspects of this world, in every concepts in every subjects, in every action in the life), although the mysteries could not be solved (and it is possible in the future, but that is the work of our descendants). Relativists would be kind of impotent when they face the wrongs, the incorrectness. Another kind of people, the absolutists, would (I’m not sure.) consider that this couldn’t be wrong and the human themselves are the truth. Fallibilists DO GET progress when they discover the errors and correct them. What does a objective progress mean? We have remove one more layer of the mist and we have a step closer to the reality (Truth)! How to find errors? Stay hungry, stay foolish.
